William Christenberry
Had Walker Evans not persuaded William Christenberry to move to Memphis in 1962, he may never had met and subsequently invited the young Eggleston to visit him in his studio. It was here that Eggelston first noticed Christenberry's colour Brownie snapshots on the wall.
I say William the first because it is highly believed that without this meeting Eggleston may not have experimented with colour, and consquently become the master of colour that is so often regarded as today.
