Why I recall where I first heard this album I find a little bizarre, suffice to say when something touches you, or even shocks you tend to remember...
In any case, the days of the Walkman were still existent, or maybe I just had not succumbed to MP3 players... and on my way back to College right by by Trafalgar Square, the bus journey was somewhat uplifted and moreover calmed as soon as 'Blue in Green' set it.
Kind of Blue then became the soundtrack on repeat on a long weekend, accompanying me through the streets of Paris as I took photos for a college project. Those were the days...So it seems the place you hear music can have a profound influence on your memories/feelings.
Recorded in one take, released in 1959, it is still regarded as one of the most influential of jazz albums. I won't go on with further descriptions, no doubt all been said before, and the reasons why I love it so. It is sheer genius.
