
Setting aside this interest photographers have in photographing the blind and this whole idea that portraits of the blind give a truer sense of the person; they being naturally 'unaware' of their 'soul' being captured through the lens.
If you like these depictions of the blind are as honest as you can get. Paul Strand's infamous portrait of an aged female beggar with the sign - 'Blind' hanging around her neck is yet another name to the list...
Of course they are of great interest to me, but I have a more personal problem with the whole matter. Coming across a blind person in the street, simultaneously upsets and strikes me deeply. Perhaps it is all down to how important sight is for me, and this fear and idea of actually being blind in something i hate to confront. I am rambling and running off on a stupid tangent...
