Illusions and Angles come into play here. The dark blanket mostly to blame for this trickery, as the central male figure(and possibly the figure on the right) appear as if standing and shoot from below..
So the two men to the left appear as would figures in a Chagall painting - they float, that is of course until the eye cottons on...
Then again it could just be me.
