When the image becomes so iconic you start to forget to really see and appreciate it. Like an overplayed song I have seen this cover so many times that I often think part of its greatness is tainted by its overexposure. I start to question whether it is a little contrived. But these are thoughts that usually subside. So many pieces from Clark's series to this day emanate such power for me.
Highly explicit and daring in content matter, these images have an element of timelessness. Scenes that are happening and will happen again. You can almost smell the sweat of youth. Mostly brutal but tender at times, I suppose voyeuristic ...it however remains his best work in my view.
